Now you can take on even more with new ways to play; options below include both cooperative and competitive play. But remember, you can always choose your own adventure in this game!

Cooperative Game Variations
FYBS Quest - Team Challenge
Setup: Separate the Strategy and Situation card decks. Spread the Strategy cards out, face up so all can see. Shuffle the Situation deck and place face-down in a pile.
How to Play: Decide how many strategies are in your quest (1 to 3). Players take turns drawing a Strategy card. All players work together to help each other choose the best strategy for each Situation card that is picked.
Victory: Complete the quest as a team!
FYBS Fishing Quest (Like "Go Fish")
Setup: Separate the Strategy and Situation card decks. Place face-down in the center. Each player takes turns drawing a Strategy card until all are distributed.
How to Play: Players take turns drawing a Situation Card. Players can choose one of their Strategy cards to tackle the situation or can ask the group, "Who has a strategy to help with [situation]?" Instead of keeping cards secret, players work together to find the best matches. If no one has a good match, the group can decide to draw a new Situation card. Each Strategy-Situation card can be placed to the side as a match, or the Strategy cards can be reshuffled to keep going,
Special Rule: Players can trade Strategy cards freely to help each other.
Victory: When each of the Strategy cards have been matched to Situation cards!
FYBS Circle Quest (Like "Hot Potato")
Setup: Players sit in a circle. Place Strategy cards in center, face up so all can see. Situation cards are shuffled and placed face-down in a draw pile.
How to Play: Pass a Situation card around the circle like hot potato (with music or counting). When it stops, that player reads the situation aloud. The whole circle helps them pick a Strategy card and explains how to use it together.
Special Rule: Before moving to the next situation, everyone practices the strategy steps together.
Victory: When everyone has had a turn being helped and helping others!
FYBS Team Wild Power (Like "Crazy Eights")
Setup: Separate the Strategy and Situation card decks. Place face-down in the center. Each player takes turns drawing a Strategy card until all are distributed. Strategy cards can be face-up in front if each player
How to Play: Players take turns drawing Situation cards and choosing one of their strategies to tackle the tough situation. HOWEVER - when any Wild Card appears, players must work together to combine 2-3 of their Strategy cards into a "super strategy" for tackling the touch situation. Players discuss the best combination before anyone can continue.
Special Rule: Players can play matching strategy types (like all Connect, Calm, or Catch strategies) to create powerful combo moves.
Victory: Successfully create super strategies for all Wild Cards!
Big/Little FYBS Partners (Like "War")
Setup: Pair players (older with younger when possible). One person in the pair takes turns drawing a Strategy card until all are distributed; place face-down. The other person in the pair takes turns drawing Situation cards (as many as you set); place face-down.
How to Play: Both players in a pair flip their top Situation and Strategy cards at the same time. Partners work together to decide how to tackle the situation with the strategy steps.
Special Rule: If situations don’t fit well, partners can "call for backup" and ask other pairs for help.
Victory: When all pairs have successfully worked through their Situation cards together!
FYBS Matching Quest (Like "Memory/Concentration")
Setup: Create a large grid in the center by mixing Strategy and Situation cards face-down in a grid.
How to Play: Players take turns flipping two cards. If they find a Strategy-Situation potential match, they explain how it helps and place the pair on the Community Board. If no match – like 2 Strategy Cards, can’t figure out how to use the Strategy with the Situation – cards go back face-down and the next player tries.
Special Rule: Other players can offer hints like "try the corner" or "I think there's a Connect with Others strategy over there."
Victory: When the Community Board is full of helpful strategy-situation pairs!
FYBS Sharing Quest (Like "Old Maid")
Setup: Separate the Strategy and Situation card decks. Place face-down in the center. Each player takes turns drawing a Strategy card until all are distributed.
How to Play: Players take turns drawing a Situation card. Players look at their Strategy cards and can volunteer their Strategy card to help tackle that tough situation. After the group discusses why each of the offered strategies would work, the player who holds the Situation card decides which Strategy to use.
Special Rule: Players are encouraged to give away cards that might help others, even if they want to keep them.
Victory: When everyone has given and received help, and all situations are solved!
Bring a High 5! Quest
Setup: Shuffle the Strategy cards and place in center pile, face-down. Shuffle the Situation deck, and pass out 3 cards to each player.
How to Play: Players decide on 3-5 ways for the group to Bring a High 5!. Players take turns reading their Situation cards, and then reach for a Strategy card. After explaining how they'll use the strategy to tackle the situation, they choose one of the ways to Bring a High 5! – and the group brings it!
Special Rule: Be creative with the Bring a High 5! options. Create special victory dances or cheers – and even make up silly names for them(breathing dance, muscle relaxation wiggle, etc.).
Victory: When everyone receives at least one Bring a High 5!.
Telephone Quest (Like "Telephone")
Setup: Arrange players in a line or circle. Give the first player a Strategy card and Situation card.
How to Play: The first player whispers to the next person how they would use the strategy for the situation. Each person adds their own idea before passing it along. The last person shares the complete "strategy story" with the group. Continue rotating the player who is the first to start the quest.
Special Rule: After each round, discuss how the strategy grew and changed, and how they could teach it to other.
Victory: When each player has had a chance to start the telephone quest.
Competitive Game Variations
FYBS Charades (Like "Charades")
Setup: Each player draws 4 Situation cards and 1-2 Strategy cards. Prepare tokens for scoring.
How to Play: Players take turns acting out or demonstrating how they would tackle the scenario on one of their Situation cards using one of their Strategy cards (no talking allowed during demonstration). Other players guess which strategy is being shown, and vote with by providing tokens based on how well they think it would work (1 – sort of, 2 - probably, or 3 – definitely).
Special Rule: Players can use props or ask others to help demonstrate, but remember, no words!
Winner: Player with the most tokens after everyone has performed at least once.
FYBS Speed Quest (Like "Speed")
Setup: Place Strategy cards in center piles by type (Connect with Others, Calm Your Self, Catch Your Feelings). Shuffle and pass out Situation cards to each player (2 or more each).
How to Play: All players race at the same time to match their Situation cards with Strategy cards from the center piles. First player to make a match shouts "FYBS Quest!" and explains their choice. Others vote thumbs up/down; if majority thumbs up, the player places the Situation card face-down in front of them.
Special Rule: If the group votes thumbs down, the player must try a different strategy match.
Winner: First player to successfully match all their Situation cards.
FYBS Quick Quest (Like "Slap Jack" with Timer)
Setup: Create a center pile of mixed Strategy and Situation cards. Set up a simple timer (20-60 seconds).
How to Play: Players take turns drawing from the center pile. If they draw a Situation card, they must quickly find a matching Strategy card from their hand before time runs out. If they draw a Strategy card, they keep it for later use.
Special Rule: Other players can help by counting down "5-4-3-2-1" to make it exciting but not stressful.
Winner: Player who makes the most successful matches.
FYBS Detective Quest (Like "Guess Who?")
Setup: Shuffle and place Situation cards face-down in a pile. Shuffle the Strategy cards and have each player takes turns drawing until all are distributed. Prepare tokens (aka detective badges) for scoring.
How to Play: One player is the "Detective" each round. Detective draws a Situation card but doesn't show it. They give clues about the situation (like "This happens at school" or "This makes your heart beat fast"). Other players hold up a Strategy card they think would help and explain why.
Special Rule: Detective can give up to 3 clues before players must make their final guess. Detective chooses the Strategy they think is the best match, and that player earns a token
Winner: Player who collects the most detective badges!
Strategy Memory Match (Like "Concentration" Tournament)
Setup: Lay Strategy and Situation cards face-down in a grid pattern. Each player gets a different colored token.
How to Play: Players take turns flipping two cards to find a potential Strategy-Situation matches. If they can explain the match, they keep the pair. If no match – like 2 Strategy Cards, can’t figure out how to use the Strategy with the Situation – cards go back face-down and the next player tries.
Winner: Player who finds the most matches.
FYBS Bingo Challenge
Setup: Create simple bingo cards with pictures or words representing different strategies or situations. Give each player a card and markers.
How to Play: Draw cards from a mixed deck and call them out. Players mark their bingo cards when they have that strategy or situation. When someone gets a line, they must demonstrate or explain one of their marked strategies to claim the win.
Special Rule: Players can help others understand the strategies, but everyone plays their own card.
Winner: Player who gets the most "bingo" rounds throughout the game.
FYBS Super Storyteller (Like "Once Upon a Time")
Setup: Shuffle the Strategy cards and place face-down in a pile.
How to Play: Set up teams of 2 or more players. Each team draws one Strategy card. Each team has 2 minutes (or choose your time) to create a short, fun story about using their strategies in real life or to help others. Stories can be based on real situations or made up (with silly characters). After all stories are told, each player votes for their favorite (can't vote for themselves). Repeat the process as many times as desired until Strategy cards.
Special Rule: Teams can trade Strategy cards before storytelling begins. Votes can also be done by category – like most creative, most helpful, most entertaining!
Winner: Team who gets the most votes.
