Second Grade, Feeling Our Best Selves

I've been using Feel Your Best Self in my second-grade classroom, and it's been such a natural fit for our day-to-day routines. I've started weaving the language and activities into our Social-Emotional Learning time, and honestly, it just makes sense for the kids. We've also put up strategy cards around the room, and we refer to them often. Whether we're working through a tricky moment, talking things out, or just checking in with ourselves, the kids are starting to use the language on their own, which has been really cool to see.
One thing I really appreciate is how kid-friendly FYBS is. The concepts are explained in a way that actually feels authentic and meaningful to them, not too complicated or "teacher-y". It's something they are able to understand and actually apply to their own lives, both in and out of the classroom.
It's opened up a lot of simple, real conversations about feelings, how our words and actions affect others, and what it means to be kind, respectful, and responsible. Nothing overcomplicated, just helping kids become more aware and make better choices.
Overall, it's been a really positive addition to our classroom and a great way to support our goal of being better humans and feeling our best selves every day!
