Conversations Around the World: Connecting Through FYBS Webinars & Training

Written by Molly Ferreira

One of the most rewarding parts of my work with Feel Your Best Self (FYBS) has been the opportunity to connect with educators, school counselors, mental health professionals, and caregivers who are interested in helping children navigate their big feelings.

Through webinars and individualized technical assistance meetings, I've had the chance to learn more about the incredible work people are doing in their own communities, answer questions about the FYBS toolkit, and explore how our emotion-coping strategies can be adapted to meet different needs.

One of the coolest parts of these conversations has been realizing just how far FYBS can reach! I've had the opportunity to connect with people across the United States, but I also got to meet with someone all the way in Wales. How cool is that?! We talked about different possibilities, from training teachers to use the toolkit to spending a day with kids creating puppets and playing with them. I loved hearing how he was thinking about ways to make FYBS work in his own setting! Coordinating a time to meet across time zones was an adventure in itself, but it was a great reminder that supporting children's emotional well-being is something that connects us all, no matter where we are in the world.

Every conversation I’ve had has been a little different. Some groups are interested in learning more about the toolkit and its resources, and others are ready to dive into implementation and explore how FYBS can fit into their classrooms, schools, or communities. Sometimes that means providing a general introduction to FYBS, and other times, it means focusing on something more specific, like our puppet-making activities.

Whether it's a group webinar or a one-on-one conversation, my goal is always the same: help people feel confident exploring FYBS and finding ways to make it work for them.

Curious about what a webinar or technical assistance meeting might look like for you or your team? Here are some answers to common questions!
